Living in Rome - Visit to the 'Eternal
City'
Holiday House Gardenia is located quite in the centre of
Rome, just few steps from the metro Re di Roma station.
After only a short walk you can visit the famous Basilica
of St. John in Laterano or the market of Via Sannio,
open daily, similar to Porta Portese Sunday market. Do not
miss the Basilica of Holy Cross in Jerusalemme, with
the relics of the cross, or the Caffarella Park,
a green oasis where significant archaeological and ecological
values are located.
Very near is also Villa Lais, a green aoasis 5 minutes
walk, which is located behind the Basilica of St. Maria
Ausiliatrice, one of the "minor basilica" in Rome, not
for its beauty, and it is definitely worth a visit. Villa
Lais includes seven buildings, all restored, spent today
in municipal services. Among these, the beautiful chapel
desecrated and rich in frescoes, adjoining owner's building,
where marriages are celebrated in a civil ceremony.
Easily reachable thanks to the lines of public transportation
we can visti the Terme di Caracalla, the Circus
Maximus, the Mouth of Truth, the Domus Aurea,
the Colosseum, Fori Imperiali, Piazza del
Campidoglio, while only 10-minute metro you can reach
the beautiful Piazza di Spagna with the famous staircase
that leads to the Church of Trinita dei Monti and
Villa Borghese, not to mention the shopping in Rome:
Via del Corso, Via dei Condotti, Via Frattina,
etc. .. . and from there to the path of 'Dolce Vita', the
famous Via Veneto, the step is short.
Piazza di Spagna is easy to reach the Pantheon, Piazza
Navona, Campo de 'Fiori. And do not miss the
opportunity to throw a coin into the famous Trevi Fountain,
if you want to go visit the city.
Speech (and visit) would merit the Basilica of St. Peter
and the Vatican Museums, with the famous Via della
Conciliazione leading directly to Castel Sant'Angelo.
